| |  | |  | | | Volunteers | The Bugbee Senior Center and the White River Council on Aging identifies and serves the needs of those over 60 years of age, primarily in the four town area of Hartford, Hartland, Norwich and Thetford. The Bugbee Senior Center assists area senior citizens with a variety of services and activities which are available to those who visit the center on North Main Street in White River Junction, as well as those seniors who may be homebound or convalescing. Many of the services that the center provides are accomplished through the time and efforts donated by dedicated volunteers who help out with everything from assisting seniors in the computer room at the center to delivering meals and providing rides to medical appointments. There are many volunteer opportunities with flexible schedules for people who would like to provide assistance to area seniors. Those wishing to become a volunteer at the center are matched with a service compatible with their interests and schedule. Volunteers are very valuable to the WRCOA and Bugbee Senior Center, therefore every effort is made to help those who donate their time feel welcome and appreciated for their contribution. Online Volunteer Application | Volunteer Overview | WRCOA/Bugbee Center Volunteers: Are dedicated individuals who contribute their time and energy to the agency and work with the supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator. Have acquainted themselves with the services and programs of the center and are aware of new developments in services. Participate in appropriate training for the duties, as necessary. Have the ability and patience to relate well to older persons as well as those who may have special needs. Must consider all information about persons served by the WRCOA to be totally confidential and should not, under any circumstances discuss such information with anyone other than staff. Record donations of time served in the In-Kind Log Book at the front desk. Contact the Director of the WRCOA if a person receiving service(s) has a question they cannot answer, or may be in need of additional services. Notify the staff with as much notice as possible, if you are not going to be able to perform a volunteer service for which you have been scheduled.
| Volunteer Positions | Home Delivered Meal Drivers Drivers to deliver meals to home-bound or convalescing individuals and act as liaison between the WRCOA/Bugbee Senior Center and the homebound.
Receptionist Someone to welcome guests as they arrive at the center, receive phone calls, and schedule various appointments.
Driver/Escort People who will provide safe, dependable rides for those individuals without their own means of transportation.
Greeter Greet those signing in for lunch at the meal registration table, collect donations and record the requested information.
Hostess/Host Welcome and seat guests who come to the center for lunch and inform new comers about the center’s facilities.
Wait Staff Serve and clean up after lunch in our dining room. Does not involve carrying heavy trays or taking orders for meals.
