| |  | |  | | | Services and Programs Available for Seniors | The Bugbee Center and the White River Council on Aging offer a number of programs and services for seniors. From nutritious meals and transportation to advice on paralegal and social services, we’re here to help seniors and their families. Below you will find information about the support we provide... and if you don’t find the information that you’re looking for or in our Frequently Asked Questions, please feel free to contact us and we’ll do our best to assist you finding answers and information. | Meal Programs | Nutritious hot meals are served weekdays at noon at the Bugbee Senior Center for a voluntary contribution. The suggested donation for people age 60 and over is $3.00. People under age 60 are welcome to dine at the Center for $4.00. Home-delivered meals are available to frail and convalescing seniors within our service area, delivered by volunteers. The suggested donation for these meals is also $3.00. Contact us about the meals program. | Volunteer Opportunities | Our many volunteers help keep the Center going by working in the dining room, staffing the Crafts Store, preparing mailings, assisting with health clinics, delivering meals, providing transportation, and countless other tasks. New volunteers are always welcome! Become a volunteer today! | Transportation | Our van provides transportation to the Bugbee Senior Center, to medical appointments and shopping trips for those age 60 and over, within our service area, Monday through Friday. Transportation is also provided by volunteer drivers. Contact us for help with transportation. | Social/Paralegal Services | A full-time Senior Service Advocate is based at the Bugbee Senior Center to provide assistance with Medicare, Medicaid, housing, Social Security, SSI and other concerns of seniors. A Paralegal is available on Wednesdays to help with consumer issues, Living Wills, Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare, disability compensation and other legal issues. Call the Center to make an appointment. | Programs & Activities | A variety of ongoing activities are sponsored by the Bugbee Senior Center, including health clinics, art lessons, bridge, bingo, crafts workshops and more. Noontime programs may include musical or other types of entertainment and presentations by healthcare professionals and other individuals about topics of interest to seniors. A full schedule of Center programs and activities is published monthly in The Bugbee Bulletin. Call the Center to be placed on the mailing list. There is no charge but donations are gratefully accepted. | Crafts Store | The Crafts Store, located within the Bugbee Senior Center, features handmade items made and placed on consignment by persons age 60 and over. Consignors receive 75% of the selling price. The other 25% benefits the Center. Popular items in the store include baby sweaters and afghans, refrigerator towels, pot holders, stuffed animals, hand-smocked infant clothes, crocheted doilies and hand-knit mittens. Our inventory varies and changes often. The store is staffed part-time by volunteers. When no volunteer is available, Bugbee Senior Center staff members are happy to open the store between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. |
