Volunteer Tax Assistance

Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) will provide trained volunteers to assist seniors with the preparation of uncomplicated VT and federal income tax returns, by appointment only, beginning February 1st. Appointments can be made by calling 295-9068 or in person at the Center.
Be sure to bring the following documents to your appointment with the Tax Assistance volunteer:

  • Your Social Security card;
  • Copies of the income taxes you filed last  year;
  • Proof of all sources of income (W-2 if you were employed;    1099-R if you received pensions and annuities); Social           Security; Interest and dividend income; State rebates and pre-bates; IRA  income; Sale of stock or real estate; any other      income;
  • Copy of your 2004-2005 property tax bill or signed landlord      certificate. If you are filing for Renter Rebate, Homeowner Property Tax Rebate or Act 68 School Property Tax Payment Application, you will need to bring proof of income for everyone in your household.
  • Tax booklet and forms you received in the mail.

Winter Warmth Fuel Raffle

During February, we will be selling raffle tickets for fuel oil, generously donated by area fuel dealers. As of "press time", we have donations from Perry's Oil Company in Bradford, VT; Leonard's Gas & Electric in Woodstock, VT; and Johnson & Dix of White River Jct.

Raffle tickets are available at the Center for $1 each or 6 for $5. Prizes will be awarded to those who sell the most tickets each week. Come on Feb. 1st at 12:30 to learn all the details.

The drawing will take place on Monday, Feb. 28th at 12:30.

Winter Weather Closing Policy

Please listen to your radio or TV for school closing announcements. When Hartford Schools are closed due to weather, the Bugbee Senior Center will also be closed. If you are in doubt, you can try calling the Center after 8:30 A.M. When possible, we will try to leave an up-to-date message on our answering machine. When the Center is closed, there are no home-delivered meals.
