Volunteer Positions at Bugbee Senior Center

Home-Delivered Meal Drivers  deliver meals to home-bound or convalescing individuals and act as liaison between the Center and the meal recipients.
Receptionists welcome visitors as they arrive at the Center,        answer the phone, take messages and schedule appointments.
Drivers/Escorts provide safe, dependable rides for individuals in need of transportation to medical appointments in the Upper     Valley whose needs can not be accommodated by our van.
Greeters assist those signing in for lunch at the Center, make change when needed and perform minor record-keeping.
Wait Staff serve and clean up after lunch in our dining room.   Serving does not involve carrying heavy trays or taking orders for meals.
Mailing Volunteers come in whenever we have a bulk mailing that needs to be folded, stuffed and/or labeled to take to the Post     Office. We usually call at least a day in advance and mailings are almost always done in the morning.
We are always in need of volunteers for the above            positions. Even when we don't have an immediate opening for a particular day of the week, we try to maintain an up-to-date list of trained substitutes. If you are interested in volunteering or want more information, please call Pat at 295-9068 or stop in at the Center.

Butterflies to Britain

The Butterfly Quilt that was raffled off in December to benefit the Center was won by Victoria Bailey of England. The winning ticket contained only her name and telephone number, which proved to be a bit of a challenge for us.
Our first attempts to reach Victoria by telephone were not    successful so we tried to locate her via the internet. While we were able to figure out approximately where she might be located, we still were not able to contact her.  Eleanor Zue, our Paralegal, emailed her brother who lives in England and he was able to reach Victoria and her parents by phone. (Her parents purchased the ticket for her while they were on holiday here.) In turn, Victoria's mother emailed her address to Eleanor.
As it happens, Eleanor and her husband will be traveling to England in February, so they will deliver the quilt to the Baileys in person! They actually live in the English town of Norwich (in      Norfolk) and the town of Thetford is nearby. We look forward to seeing the pictures and hearing "the rest of the story". Watch our website for an update.
