Fundraising Update
In spite of the snowy weather, we had one of our most successful bazaars in several years! On Saturday, Dec. 6, the totals were as follows: Books $714.95 Crafts $798.50 Lunch $241.10 Jewelry $ 83.70 Quilt* $112.00 Bake Sale $280.12 White Elephant $279.09 $2,509.46 (*This amount is for quilt raffle tickets sold 12/6 only.) The Cookie Sale on 12/13 brought in $486.98 for cookies and $340.16 for Crafts and Books. Additional sales to date brought the grand total to $4,616.04! We want to extend a very big THANK YOU to everyone who worked, donated items, baked, made phone calls or patronized our bazaar and cookie sale! We also want to thank Vermont Cut Flower of Norwich, The Clerkin Agency of WRJ, and Kinney-Pike Insurance of WRJ for sponsoring advertisements in the Valley News, and Price Chopper Supermarket of West Lebanon and Upper Valley Produce of West Lebanon, for providing supplies for the Bazaar.

Headed South?
If you will be leaving for all or part of the winter (long enough to have your mail held or forwarded by the Post Office), please let us know so that we can stop sending your Bugbee Bulletin or send it to your winter address. Otherwise, the Post Office will return it to us and charge us 37¢. Just a quick phone call from you will make a big difference to us. Then be sure to let us know when you return so we can put you back on the list or update your address.

In Case of Stormy Weather
During the next few months, there may be days when the weather conditions make it unsafe for staff, volunteers and participants at the Center to be on the roads. Please listen to your radio for school closing announcements. Generally, when Hartford School District schools are closed due to weather, the Bugbee Senior Center will also be closed. Vermont school closings are also listed at the bottom of the TV screen on Channel 3 and Channel 31 (cable channel 13). If you are in doubt, you may try calling the Center at 295-9068 after 8:30 AM. When possible, we will try to leave an up-to-date message on our answering machine. When the Center is closed, there will be no home-delivered meals.

Can You Help?
There is a great need for volunteers who can shovel walks for home-bound elders, especially those who receive home-delivered meals. If you can help by "adopting" an elder to shovel out, please call the Bugbee Senior Center at 295-9068. Also, we would like to increase our list of winter substitute meal deliverers. If you have reliable transportation (preferably 4-wheel drive) and an hour or so to spare in the middle of the day, please give us a call at 295-9068.
