January Happenings

Jan. 3   12:30 "New Year's Resolutions" with  Judy Adams. We begin the year with  plans to "start over". What are your  resolutions for the new year? 
Jan. 4   12:30 "Emergency Fuel Program".  Melanie Cash, Senior Advocate, will  explain how this program may be able  to help you stay warm this winter.
Jan. 5   12:30 "Come to Ireland". Norma Fisk  recently made a trip to the Emerald  Isle. Come see her pictures and hear  about her adventures.
Jan. 10  12:30 "Bugbee Book Club".  If you  would be interested in leading or  attending a book discussion group  here at the Center, please come to this  meeting.
Jan. 11  12:30 Accordionist Brent Buswell will  be here to entertain. If you've never  heard Brent, you've missed a real  treat!
Jan. 12  10:30 "Together" with Judy Adams,  celebrates our first anniversary by  remembering the past year's  discussion topics. It's a great time to  join our group!
Jan. 13   9:00 Quilting with Colleen.  Review  quilting basics and learn to make  "Twisted Sister" quilt blocks.
Jan. 15   9:00 FABRIC SALE! See page 6.
Jan. 17   12:30 Karaoke with Vaughn. It's  been a while, but we hope you  remember the fun we had singing our  favorite songs with the karaoke disks  and will join us again.
Jan. 18   12:30 Music with the Richmond  Middle School 6th Graders, directed by  Josh Hall.  We always enjoy a visit by  Josh and the kids. These are the kids  who will be the Hanover High School  "Footnotes" in a few years!
Jan. 19   12:30 "Is It Alzheimer's?"  We all  worry when we forget things. Pat  Nelson, from VT/NH Alzheimer's  Association, will explain how to   differentiate between normal  forgetfulness and early Alzheimer's.
Jan. 20   9:00  Quilting Group Organizational  Meeting.  It's time to decide what projects  we want to work on in the next few months.  Please come and bring your ideas and  suggestions.

Jan. 24   12:30 "VT Medicaid Pharmacy Program".  Erica Perry will explain who is eligible for  assistance under this program, how to  apply and any changes that have been  instituted since her visit last August.
Jan. 26   10:30 "Together", with Judy Adams.  "When we change the way we look at  things, the things we look at change." (Dr.  Wayne Dwyer, The Power of Intention.)
12:30 "Antiques Road Show. You are  invited to bring in up to three small items   and Si Lupton, owner of the Hartland  Antiques Center, will offer an opinion of  what they may be worth in today's market. 
Jan 27   1:00 Pie Raffle. Now that the Christmas  cookies are all gone, here's your chance to  win a freshly-baked pie! We'll draw the  winning ticket right after the North Country  Band finishes playing.
Jan. 31  "Medicare Update". Marlene Eddy, from  the VT State Health Insurance Program, will  bring us the latest information about  changes in Medicare. Bring your questions.

Volunteer Tax Preparers

Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) will provide trained volunteers to assist seniors with the preparation of uncomplicated VT and federal income tax returns, by appointment only, beginning in
February. Starting February 1st, we will make
appointments over the phone (295-9068) or in person at the Center.
Tax Training will be given at the Bugbee Senior Center during the first week of January. If you would like to become a trained volunteer tax preparer, or would like more information, call Steve Carter at 802-457-5141.
