Looking Ahead….

"Cabin Fever"
Crafts Supplies Sale

We are thinking about     having a craft supplies sale in late February or early March. We have been accumulating yarn, knitting and crocheting supplies, fabric, and odds-and-ends that are still good but which we will probably never get around to using. Does this sound familiar? If you have similar items that you would like to donate, we'll be happy to take them off your hands.

The Marble Game Returns!

We'll play the marble game once more before Regina leaves us.
On January 2nd, we will put 95 clear blue marbles and 5 red marbles in a can. Each day, we will sell game tickets for 50 cents each or 3/$1. Half the money collected goes into the "pot", the other half goes to the Center.
After lunch each day, we will draw 3 tickets. Each lucky ticket holder will pick a marble from the can. If a red marble is picked, the ticket holder wins the "pot". If more than one red marble is picked, the pot will be split among the winners. If no red marbles are picked, the pot will roll over and be added to the next day's ticket sales. Marbles that have been picked are not returned to the can.
Tickets are valid only on the day of purchase. The pot grows, and the odds of winning increase, each day that there is no winner. The game will     continue until all red marbles have been picked.

Thanks goes out to all of the volunteers that helped out with the Bazaar, Bake Sale and Cookie Walk. The funds raised during those events is a great help to the senior center and the dedication of the volunteers that help out during the year is truly wonderful.

Many of the people who come to the bazaar, bake sale and cookie walk see the people who are working and may think that they're the only ones involved… but there are many people involved behind the scenes that don't get the recognition that they deserve: people who create the crafts that are sold, those who donate things to sell, people who setup and breakdown the event and all of the bakers that provide wonderful tasting treats for the cookie walk and bake sale.

If you would like to volunteer at the Bugbee Center, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 295-9068 or by email at: volunteer@bugbeecenter.org

Winter Weather Warning!

In the coming weeks, there may be days when it would not be safe for you or our staff members to be on the roads. When the Hartford School District schools are closed due to weather, the Bugbee Senior Center is also closed.
We will try to put an announcement on the radio, but you can also call the Center (295-9068)
after 8:30 AM. We will try to put an updated message on our answering machine, as well as on our website:

When the Center is closed, there are no home-delivered meals.

Going Away For the Winter?

If you will be leaving the area for all or part of the winter (long enough to have your mail held or forwarded by the Post Office), please let us know so we can stop sending the Bugbee  Bulletin or send it to your winter address. Otherwise, the Post Office will return it to us and charge us 41¢. A quick phone call from you will make a big difference to us.
Be sure to let us know when you return so we can put you back on the mailing list or update your address.
