Don't Let the Post-Holiday Blues Get You Down!
There's no need to sit at home alone this winter. Come on down to the Bugbee Senior Center. The coffee is always on and there are people around to talk with. As you can see by looking at our calendar, there is usually some sort of entertainment at lunchtime, as well as a variety of on-going activities that happen during the week. What does not show on the calendar are the various tasks that are performed daily by volunteers. Each day, we have a volunteer who answers the telephone from approximately 8:30 to noon. A different volunteer greets people, helps them sign in for lunch from about 10:30 to noon. Another volunteer counts the money after lunch. Dining room volunteers serve and clean up after lunch. Volunteer drivers deliver home-delivered meals in Norwich, Thetford, and the town of Hartford. In addition, there are often short term jobs and projects to be done. Right now, we are looking for people who would like to learn these jobs so they can be called in to substitute when our current volunteers are away, ill or otherwise unable to come in. If you have time on your hands and would like to know more about our volunteer opportunities, please call us at 295-9068.
