Happy New Year to all, and I hope your holiday season was a joyous one. As I write this month's       version of my monthly message to our readers, it is "colder than a you know what in you know where"!! Or however the saying goes. The point of this comment though is to remind folks that in this cold time of year there are those who sometimes need a little helping hand to get through the winter months. If you need assistance getting assistance, remember that we have the good fortune of having someone here who may be able to help to obtain heating assistance in the cold times. Melanie Ferrell, the      Advocate & Case Manager from Council On Aging for Southeastern Vermont, has her office here and may be able to help. Her number is 802-359-4086 and can be used to set up a meeting or leave a voice mail message.

We had a wonderful Holiday Dinner just before Christmas that was well attended and enjoyed by all. Also in December we had our Annual Bazaar, which was very successful this year, bringing in around $4,500 for our current year budget. I thank everyone who worked on these two events to make them the success they were.

One of the aspects of my job is to think about the season we are NOT in at the moment. That means in the summer I get to think about our programs and operations in the winter and vice versa. So now I am thinking ahead to our nicer weather in the spring and summer and what kinds of activities we will run. Last year as many know, we had a number of "field trips" which were very well received. If you have ideas about these types of trips let one of us here know your thoughts. Don't be passive and let us do all the work!! Share your ideas!

Stay warm, healthy and well.
