"COVER" and "SEVCA"
Can Help Keep You Warm

In our February 2006 issue, we listed some ways to trim your heating bill. One way we didn't    mention was to increase the amount of insulation in your house, and, in response to that omission, we had a call from a representative from COVER. They have a program that can help income-eligible people weatherize their homes. For more information, call 802-296-7241 or visit their website:

www.coverhomerepair.org.

Even though the worst of the winter weather may be over for this year, it's not too soon to think about next year.
SEVCA also has a similar  program available to income-eligible people. Their crews can insulate walls and attics, caulk and install weather-stripping and make other energy saving repairs. For more    information, call

We've Been Had!

In the December 2005 issue of the Bugbee Bulletin, we warned you that cell phone numbers will be made available to telemarketers. We even gave you a number to call to make sure that yours would not be released. It turns out that we've been hooked into yet another "urban legend"!
As with many rumors, there is a grain of truth in this      warning. Apparently, there is an effort being made to establish a database of cell phone numbers which would be accessible only by  dialing 411. It will not be available in printed form and the  cell phone numbers that will be included will be only those of customers who have asked to be included.
This information came to our attention when we were   checking on a different rumor at www.snopes.com, a website devoted to getting the facts about all the warnings, requests and stories that circulate on the internet. While we tend to be skeptical of items that come to us via email, we're more    trusting of information that comes from other sources. We'll try to be more diligent in the future!
(The rumor we were checking out turned out to be true: don't use "cruise control" when driving on wet or icy pavement. If you hydroplane, it can accelerate and cause you to lose    control of your car.)
