Cribbage is Catching On!

In recent weeks, we've seen a big surge in the number of cribbage players here at the Bugbee Senior Center. Students from the Wilder School have been coming to take lessons, and, virtually every morning, there are "pick up" games among players who just happen to show up. If you want to learn, drop by and someone will be glad to teach you.
If you already know how to play, come to the "tournaments" on Tuesday afternoons where you can play for $1. Winner takes half the pot; the Center gets the other half.
If there are other games you like to play (such as Scrabble, Uno, etc.), be sure to let Judy know. Perhaps we can find other people who like to play the same games.
If you are a pool player, come check out our pool room. We have two tables and there are usually pool players in the building who enjoy testing their skill.

Don't Forget the Sunscreen!

Sunburn is completely preventable. If you are going to be in the sun for more than 15 minutes, take the following precautions:

  • Use a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15. Apply the sunscreen 30 minutes before exposure. Reapply every 2 hours or as directed.
  • If you are allergic to PABA, the active ingredient in some sunscreens, ask your pharmacist about non-PABA alternatives.
  • Avoid the sun between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., when the burning rays are strongest.
  • Wear a broad-brimmed hat to shade your face.

Can You Help?

We recently received the following memo from a Junior Girl Scout who lives in White River Jct.

(*For privacy reasons, we're choosing not to print her full name.) If you are interested in helping Hannah achieve her goal or would like more information, call Emily at Bugbee Senior Center at 295-9068.

Send your name, mailing address, and request to be taken off mailing lists to:

Don't expect immediate results but within a few months the amount of unsolicited mail in your mailbox should decrease.
