Flowering May
By Gertrude Rudberg

The apple blossoms pink and white
Perfume the month of May
Across the meadows, emerald green,
That dance in bright array.

The lilac trees in loveliness
Bloom purple everywhere
And send their pungence far and wide
With fragrance through the air.

The dandelions yellow-gold
Adorn the fields around
And turn their faces toward the sun
Where rays of warmth are found.

The violets so sweet and blue
Peek out from 'neath the trees
And smile with dainty tenderness
Among protective leaves.
