Got to Go NOW?

Are you unable to work, exercise, travel or attend social events because you fear not being able to get to the bathroom in time? Do you wear protective pads just in case you have an embarrassing accident? Are you sleep derived because you wake up so often during the night to use the bathroom?

At least one in 10 Americans aged 65 or older suffer from "overactive bladder" ("OAB"), but it is not a normal part of aging. OAB is characterized by the strong, uncontrollable urge to        urinate, wetting accidents and urinating more than  eight times per 24 hours ,including 2 or more times during the night.         Unfortunately, OAB remains vastly underreported due to sufferers' feelings of frustration, embarrassment, not knowing what options they have or they feel it is part of the natural aging process. As a result, this condition causes many Americans to suffer in  silence… but this does not have to be the case.

On Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM (EST), health care professionals will be standing by for a one-day toll-free hotline at  1-866-URGE-2-GO   (1-866-874-3246). Callers will be provided with a confidential forum where they will be able to obtain one-on-one counseling and have all their bladder health care questions answered. Please note that the health care professionals will not be prescribing medications or          diagnosing callers. They will encourage callers to speak with their personal health care professional for a proper diagnosis.

Day by Day Ways to
Prevent Hardening
of the Attitudes
(Adapted from World Laughter Tour
President Steve Wilson, 2002)

Mondays are for Compliments: "A kind word often goes unspoken, but never goes unheard." This overcomes our tendency to      criticize and  be judgmental of        others, which robs us of laughter.
Tuesdays are for Flexibility: "The tree that bends in the wind does not break." There is no laughter in being stubborn. We all get set in our ways and yet it is a good thing to be open to new ideas.
Wednesdays are for Gratitude: "As you go through life, let this always be your goal: Keep your eye upon the donut and not upon the hole!" An attitude of gratitude brings   serenity and laughter.
Thursdays are for Kindness: "The practice of kindness creates healthy relationships and         community connections and       inspires  people to pass kindness on to  others." Simple kindness may be the most vital key to  the riddle of how human beings can live with each other in peace, and care properly for this planet we all share.
Fridays are for Forgiveness: "I never hold a grudge because while I am being angry, the other guy is out dancing!" (Buddy    Hackett)  Forgiveness means     letting go of anger. Releasing anger makes you healthier and opens up room in your heart for more laughter.
Weekends are for Chocolate: "A bad day fishing beats a good day working!" Remember to take time for leisure, pleasure and             relaxation.

Jury Notice Identity Theft Scam

Kelly Ayotte, NH Attorney General, has released the details of a scam that has happened in NH. Chances are, the same thing may well happen in VT.

Apparently, scammers, posing as court officials, call     people at random and accuse them of failing to appear for jury duty and say that there is a warrant for their arrest. Victims are then asked for personal information, such as their date of birth and social security number, to verify their identity.

Because they are caught off guard and afraid that they are in real legal trouble, people are apt to cooperate with the scammer.
Kelly Ayotte assures NH residents that court workers will  never ask for personal information over the phone for people who have received notices to report for jury duty but failed to show up.

If you receive a call from someone you don't know who, for whatever reason, asks for personal information, hang up. Then report the call to your state's Attorney General's office. In Vermont, the number is 1-800-649-2424.
