We're still looking for volunteer meal drivers for the White River Junction & Hartford, VT area. Meal deliveries only take about an hour, a bit before 11 AM. The meals are appreciated by the homebound seniors and, as a liaison of the center, drivers provide a sense of caring and peace of mind for people who may not have outside contact.

If you would like to help out or know someone who would, even as a substitute meal driver, please contact us using the info below or visit us online at www.bugbeecenter.org for more volunteer information and a secure online application.

If you would like to volunteer at the Bugbee Center, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 295-9068 or by email at: volunteer@bugbeecenter.org

Sayings from the 1950's
From www,suddenlysenior.com
These statements were quite common during the 1950's. How many of these sayings will ring as true 50 years from now?

  1. I'll tell you one thing: if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's groceries for $20.
  2. Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long when $5,000 will only buy a used one.
  3. If cigarettes keep on going up in price, I'm going to quit. A quarter a pack is ridiculous.
  4. Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter?
  5. The Government is wanting to get its hands on everything. Pretty soon its going to be impossible to run a family business or a farm.
  6. If they raise the minimum wage to $1, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store.
  7. When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 50 cents a gallon. Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage.
  8. Kids today are impossible. Those duck tail haircuts make it impossible to stay groomed. Next thing you know, boys will be wearing their hair as long as the girls.

Are You "Crafty"?

We are looking for consigners age 60 and older who would like to place handmade items in our Crafts Store. Inexpensive kitchen items, such as potholders and placemats, and baby items, are popular sellers. Consigners receive 75% of the selling price.      The store is open whenever the Center is open. If interested, call Emily at Bugbee Senior Center (295-9068).
